The Family Studies and Gerontology Program is a B.S. degree with an interdisciplinary major which draws from the fields of family studies, sociology, psychology, and communication. FSG prepares students to excel in existing service-oriented fields and allows the student to envision new areas of need or vocational possibilities. Furthermore, you can earn college credit for your personal life learning. Many students take this pre-counseling degree to prepare for a Master's level licensure. (LMFT and LPC).
This is a 62 week program. Students attend class only one night a week. Applicants must have completed 60 college credits and, if under age 25, show significant work experience.

This course studies the origin, development, functions, and problems of the basic social institution of our culture—the family. A systems approach is used to study the relationships and dynamics of family functioning.

This course examines the social, economic, and legal services that are relevant to the family and later life adults. Special coverage will be given to availability of public and private resources. This course involves work in a community setting.
